In 1998, Sunnyside revitalized its children’s ministry and renovated the education wing to begin using a Workshop Rotation model of Sunday school education for children 3 years old through 5th Grade.

Using techniques based on Multiple Intelligence theories, workshop rotation Sunday school teaches children about the stories and themes of the Bible using

- storytelling
- drama
- science
- computers
- film
- cooking
- kinesthetics.
Children learn in different ways, and we seek to reach children where they are most comfortable to allow the Bible to come alive for them today. Our classrooms include a miniature movie theater, an art studio, a Bedouin encampment, a stage with a puppet theater and a computer lab/game room.
Sunnyside takes seriously its commitment to children, which is why over the course of a year at least 20 different teachers help teach the different rotations. Each class is also shepherded by two adults every week who assist in the teaching of the lesson. Based on a three-year cycle, children are exposed to over 25 different Bible stories and themes.
We also ask parents and families to take the Christian Education of their children seriously as well. Each year families are asked to covenant together with the Christian Education Committee to partner in their children's education. Click here for a PDF version of this covenant.
